Artist's Comments

The first in a series of drawings that were inspired by the music of the musical Man of La Mancha, and had been left aside for far too long. But as I have said before, I hope to change that in these next few days.

First off is Dulcinea, or rather Aldonza, the bitter kitchen wench of the inn where don Quixote is "knighted." At the time I was experimenting with some stylistic changes that haven't really stuck. Regardless, I am open to you comments and criticisms, though I beg you to cushion your prospective barbs at least a tad…

Line from the song "Dulcinea"
Part II- Sancho
Part III- Don Quixote

You are getting much better at drawing women! I love her hair. The thumb on that front hand looks a little off, like it is hiding behind the hand.

I totally dig the style!
Dulcinea is a bitter kitchen wench, but doesn't "dulce" mean "sweet"? :D

It does indeed. Much more the humor in don Quixote naming the bitter Aldonza sweet.

"Dead Tom's dead! Long John shot him!"
"But, Dead Tom's always been dead. That's why we call him Dead Tom."
"Oh."
:iconhanyuse:
Oh my, it does doesn't it? I'll have to watch for that in the future.

I like it, once again (found the other one first) but I think she should be kinda more tempting, Aldonza is supposed to be a kindof rough beauty, difficult because 'life as not been kind to her'

I kind of have trouble drawing women, much less drawing them alluringly. I think it's the conditioning from all the girls who harped about breast size in my early drawings. I fear what will happen if I push things. But I will try someday, when I am less cowardly.

lol, I do too, so I probably shouldn't be complaining...

No, that's quite all right. Things like that help me gauge what people might want to see. And if I work in Illustration as is one day my dream, I'll need to understand how to get feedback for future clients. If you're not insulting me, you're helping me.
